Overview  

The OBS Challenge Course Instructor Level 2 (CCI Lv2) is an advanced 5-day CCI certification programme. This certification aims to provide participants with skills and knowledge beyond the OBS Challenge Course Instructor Level 1 (CCI Lv1), with a higher level of emphasis on principles and methods for safe and controlled rescue approaches. This includes competencies in understanding alternative access methods, setting up alternative hoisting and belay systems, escaping from the primary belay system and extraction of participants, and equipping participants with the necessary skills and knowledge in performing troubleshooting on rope courses. 

Participants will also be exposed to practical hands-on simulations in managing difficult scenarios unique to the management of participants when conducting rope courses, including performing rescues for participants in distress. Upon passing both the written and practical assessment, participants will be awarded the OBS CCI Lv2 Certification which is valid for 3 years. 

Course Objectives

The Learning Objectives for the CCI Level 2 Certification Course are as follows: 

  • Learners will be able to prepare their personal protective equipment and the rescue equipment to execute a safe and effective rescue on the Adventure Learning Facility (ALF)

  • Learners will be able to apply knots craft used for the ALF rescue operations

  • Learners will be able to perform a rescue on the ALF based on OALC SOP

  • Learners will be able to perform setting of runner cord on the ALF based on OALC SOP

  • Learners will be introduced to the role of an ALF IC and its duties and responsibilities

Pre-Requisites 

  • Participants must be 21 years old and above.

  • Minimum of 6 participants to start a class.

  • Current OBS CCI Lv1 certification or equivalent.

  • Submission of portfolio indicating a minimum of 200 hours of experience working on challenge ropes courses.

  • Verification will be based on portfolio submission.

Course Fees 

Full course fee: $517.75 per pax (inclusive of 9% GST)

Details will be shared via Course Administrative Instruction (CAI) – Upon Successful Registration  

Training Delivery

The course will be conducted both indoors and outdoors, leveraging on case studies, hands-on demonstration and practice, role-playing and simulated challenge ropes courses, abseiling and zipline scenarios. A practical assessment of the learning component will be conducted to validate the acquisition of skills by the participant. A maximum of 3 attempts will be granted per assessment component.

Assessment

  • Theory test (to score at least 80%); and 

  • Practical test (to score 100% “Competent”) 

  • Fulfil at least 80% of attendance  

To Note

  • The OBS CCI Lv2 Certification is valid for three (3) years.

  • Slots are limited per session and are on a first-come-first-served basis.

  • Acceptance into the course is based on a confirmation sent out by OBS after all relevant documents have been submitted and payment has been made before course commencement.

  • E-Certificate will be issued to those who have successfully met the passing requirements and are assessed as Competent.

  • Certified Licence Trainers are not to perform any activities with an expired certification.

  • Certificate Licence is to be renewed prior to the expiration date; extension of licence will not be entertained without valid reason.
