Overview 

This is a skills refresher course for current holders of a valid OBS Challenge Course Instructor Level 1 (CCI Lv1) certificate. Participants will undergo reassessment of their ability to execute skills and demonstrate knowledge and competence in facilitating High Adventure Elements (HAE) and Low Adventure Elements (LAE) at a Ministry of Education Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre (MOE OALC). This reassessment will ensure strict adherence to the MOE OALC Standard Operating Procedure (Site Specific), as covered in the OBS CCI Level 1 certification course 

Upon successfully clearing the practical assessment of the certification course, participants will be awarded a renewed OBS CCI Lv1 certification, which is valid for one (1) year upon the date of completion. 

Course Objectives 

The Learning Objectives for the CCI Level 1 Re-Certification Course are as follows: 

  • Learners can prepare their personal protection equipment and devices for safe and effective conduct of Challenges Course activities.

  • Learners can apply proper knots tying techniques during their preparation and conducting phase of the Challenge Course activities.

  • Learners can apply the different facilitation techniques during situations where briefing and debriefing are required.

  • Learners can apply the different facilitation techniques during situations where briefing and debriefing are required.

  • Learners can perform One-Man Belay technique (4 Steps Belay method).

  • Learners are able to dispatch and allocate supervisor as station dispatcher on a Challenge Course activity. 

  • Learners are able to perform a recovery technique during a Challenge Course operation.

  • Learners are able to perform risks management explicitly while conducting a Challenge Course activity.

Pre-Requisites 

  • Course participants must be at least 21 years of age.

  • A minimum of 6 participants are required for a class to be confirmed.

  • Current OBS CCI Lv1 certification or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 50 hours to qualify for the 1 Day Assessment only.

  • Number of hours in the portfolio should be within the certification validity period.

Course Fees 

2 Days Recertification Course – Work Experience Hours >50 hours
$207.10 per pax (inclusive of 9% GST) 

1 Day Recertification Course – Work Experience Hours <50 hours 
$103.55 per pax (inclusive of 9% GST).

Venue 

Details will only be shared via Course Administrative Instruction (CAI) – Upon Successful Registration.

Training Delivery 

The course will be conducted both indoors and outdoors, across Labrador OALC and Jalan Bahtera OALC, with a trainer to learner ratio of 1:6. The course will be leveraging on case studies, role-playing and simulated challenge ropes courses, abseiling and zipline scenarios. A practical assessment of the learning component will be conducted to validate the acquisition of skills by the participant. A maximum of 3 attempts will be granted per assessment component.  

To complete the course, participants will have to be competent in all practical components and to achieve at least an 80% attendance. 

Assessment 

  • Theory test (to score at least 80%); and

  • Practical test (to score 100% "Competent").

  • Fulfil at least 80% of attendance.

To Note 

  • The OBS CCI Lv1 Re-Certification is valid for one (1) year only.

  • Acceptance into the course is based on a confirmation sent out by OBS after all relevant documents have been submitted and payment has been made before course commencement.

  • E-Certificate will be issued to those assessed as Competent.

  • Certified Licence Trainers are not to perform any activities with an expired certification.

  • Certificate Licence is to be renewed prior to the expiration date; extension of licence will not be entertained without valid reason.

  • Certificate Licence remains expired as of the last expiry date until successfully renewed within the next available course date; otherwise, a full course is required to practise or execute the role of a CCI Level 1 Practitioner.

  • Certificate Validity - Grace Period Policy
    A three-month grace period is provided to allow practitioners to complete their recertification if they are unable to do so before their certificate expires. This grace period is not an extension of the certification period itself, and practitioners are strongly encouraged to register for and complete their recertification before their certificate expires.
