1. What is OBS50 Homecoming all about?

OBS50 Homecoming is a milestone event for all Outward Bounders in our first  50 years to return and celebrate OBS’ 50th anniversary together.

2. Where is the event held?

OBS50 Homecoming will be held at the Outward Bound Singapore Campus on Pulau Ubin. Invited guests are required to meet at the Outward Bound Reception Centre at 22 Punggol Road – Track 19 Singapore 828871. There will be boats arranged to bring you into Pulau Ubin.

3. Can I bring my family and friends?

Each Outward Bounder may bring up to 3 guests on a first-come-first-served basis. Guests may be placed on a waiting list if slots are full. Their participation will be confirmed at least one week before the event. Please contact rsvp@eminence-event.com if you do not hear from us.

4. I have never attended an OBS course before. Can I still attend OBS50 Homecoming?

OBS50 Homecoming is designed for our OBS Alumni and their guests. We thank you for your interest in joining our celebration. You may write in to rsvp@eminence-event.com to express your interest and will be placed on a waiting list. We will contact you at least one week before the event if there are vacancies.

5. I am unable to attend the OBS50 Homecoming but would really like to be a part of the celebrations. How may I do so?

If you are unable to be present on 16 September, we are still glad to receive your well-wishes and stories. You may share these on Facebook and Instagram. #myOBSstory #outwardboundsg

6. Do I have to register to go for this event?

Registration is compulsory for administrative purposes and management of your safety during the event. Bringing along a friend or family member? Do remember to sign them up as well!

7. What activities may I expect at the OBS50 Homecoming?

There will be exciting events to relive your OBS experience, which include climbing/ height activities (abseiling, flying fox, rock climbing, challenge ropes courses), water activities (jetty jump, triyaking, rafting, rowboat, swimming pool activities), nature and heritage trails, tunnelling and caving experiences, and other exciting stations (Medical, Campcraft, Outdoor Cooking, Orienteering, Team Games) where you get to enjoy outdoor learning!

8. Is there a minimum/maximum age limit to attend?

OBS0 Homecoming is a family-friendly event and all are welcome to join in the fun. Children may attempt some of the height and water activities only if they can fit into our safety equipment. We have also designed activities and stations which are suitable for children. Elderly alumni and guests are encouraged to attend. There are a range of activities of differing physical requirements such as nature and heritage trails, and outdoor cooking.

9. Will my children be allowed to participate in climbing activities?

Children may participate if they can fit into our safety equipment. If not, there are still some activities and stations that are suitable for children.

10. Will lunch be provided?

We will be catering packed lunch. This can be collected with the presentation of your meal voucher. Please note that each registrant is only entitled to one packed lunch. All meals are halal certified. Vegetarian option is available upon registration. You may also choose to bring your own food.

11. What alternative meals are there if I am allergic to chicken/fish or have special dietary requirements?

We will recommend participants to select the vegetarian meal if they are allergic to chicken/fish. All meals will already exclude common food allergens like beans, seafood and peanuts. If you have any other allergies, please bring your own food.

12. Is there a recommended attire for this event?

It is recommended to wear long pants and covered shoes to protect yourself from the sun, activities and insect bites. Slippers are not allowed. As most activities are in the outdoors, you are strongly advised to bring sun protection (caps/hats, sunglasses, sunblock) and insect repellent. Please bring a change of attire if you would like to participate in water activities.

13. Are there shower facilities at OBS?

Yes, there are shower cubicles at OBS Camp 1 and 2. You are free to use them in between activities as necessary.

14. What time is the event?

Registration is at 0745hrs, 0845hrs, 0945hrs and 1045hrs. The ferry trip between OBS and Punggol jetty is approximately 15min. We certainly hope you can stay with us to witness the opening of the time capsule by Minister Heng Swee Keat between 1330 to 1530hrs. Boat timings are as follows:

15. If we are late, can we take the later boat?

A 15min grace period will be given if you are late for registration. Participants who arrive beyond this grace period will only be able to take the next boat if there are available slots.

16. Can I proceed to other parts of Pulau Ubin?

Boats are catered only for the OBS50 Homecoming event between OBS and Punggol Jetty. No transport will be provided for participants who wish to go to other parts of Pulau Ubin.

17. Can I leave the island and return at another time?

There will only be one entry and exit point for all participants, with no re-entry once a participant has left the island.

18. Will the souvenir shop be open? 

Yes, the souvenir shop will be opened at OBS Camp 1 from 1030hrs to 1500hrs. Please note that only cash is accepted for purchase of items.
